Devils played a solid game all around, and once again I apologize for being so busy.

It started on a giveaway by Alexei Yashin. The Isles captain found it stolen by Travis Zajac, who put it right in front for Zach Parise, who deposited past Rick DiPietro.

15 Seconds later, the Devils made it 2-0. Another Islander turnover, this time by Jason Blake, who was unable to corral a Chris Campoli pass across. It came right to Jay Pandolfo, who went behind and centered one to Sergei Brylin, who's played so well under Claude Julien this season.

The Isles got a quick one back. After some sustained pressure shortly after Brylin's goal, Sean Hill's point shot was deflected past Marty Brodeur. It was determined that much maligned Trent Hunter would get credit, and it was 2-1 Devils.

NJ answered 10 minutes later, when Jamie Langenbrunner was able to create a 2-on-1 in the Isles zone. He fed one across to Zach Parise, who did a little spin move in tight, and ripped one past DiPietro to make it 3-1 New Jersey. Parise momentarily took the lead in Devil-goal scoring, until Period 2.

Patrik Elias reclaimed a tie for the team lead in the second period. After some sustained pressure in the Isles end, Elias took the puck from a bad angle - Much like the one he scored against the Capitals last week - and just rifled a shot thru DiPietro's pads. It was a rough one from DiPietro tonight, and the Devs had made it 4-1.

The Isles made it 4-3 toward the end of the game with goals by Andy Hilbert and Miro Satan, but the Devils had the right offensive combinations tonight, and got their 5th win in 7 games.
